Why it matters

Why this march matters

A coalition day of action for democracy, community safety, and visible public solidarity.

Seattle has already shown that people are willing to turn out in large numbers when democracy, civil rights, and community safety are under attack. This march builds on that momentum, but it is not just a display of anger. It is a coordinated act of public commitment.

This coalition is asking people to show up because:

  • families and neighbors are being targeted by ICE-fueled fear tactics
  • authoritarian politics rely on people feeling isolated and outnumbered
  • broad, visible turnout makes local solidarity unmistakable
  • people need a place to connect with organizers, not just react online

This is a resolute, welcoming march built around public solidarity and organized presence.

Safety

Safety and nonviolence

A nonviolent public action with clear expectations for community safety.

A core principle behind No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. This rally and march are a protected expression of First Amendment rights, and community safety is part of the organizing plan from the start.

Please come prepared to support that standard:

  • do not bring weapons of any kind, including legally permitted firearms
  • follow guidance from event marshals, accessibility volunteers, and organizers
  • keep pathways, entrances, and interpreter sightlines clear
  • look out for one another around water, rest, mobility, and crowd flow

A strong turnout works best when people can move through the day safely and predictably.

Accessibility

Accessibility

ASL, ADA access, and venue details for both the rally and the march finish.

Accessibility support is part of the event plan at both venues.

At Cal Anderson Park:

  • ASL interpreters will be on stage during the rally
  • a dedicated ADA section with a clear interpreter sightline will be available near the stage
  • the accessible entrance is behind the dugout on the southeast corner of the park, near Pine Street and 11th Avenue
  • there is a short ramp from Pine Street and a short ramp from 11th Avenue
  • ADA-compliant gender-neutral bathrooms are at the north end of the field

Transit

Transit and route

Start at Cal Anderson, finish at Seattle Center, and plan transit before you leave home.

The rally starts at Cal Anderson Park and the march concludes at Seattle Center. Transit is the easiest way to move through the day.

Best starting options:

  • Sound Transit light rail to Capitol Hill Station
  • Metro bus routes serving Capitol Hill and Cal Anderson
  • bike or scooter if that works for your trip

Organizers recommend using the King County Metro trip planner instead of relying on a generic map search. Aim to arrive by noon and give yourself extra time if you are coming from outside Capitol Hill.

Transit lines called out by organizers include:

  • to Cal Anderson Park: Capitol Hill light rail, plus Metro routes 8, 9, 10, 12, and 49
  • from Seattle Center: Metro routes 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 13, 24, 28, 29, 31, and 33, RapidRide D and E, and the Seattle Monorail

Volunteer

Volunteer and outreach

Help with marshaling, outreach, setup, and neighborhood organizing.

If you want to help before or during the march, the clearest next step is the March 28 volunteer form.

Ways to help include:

  • volunteer call-backs and role signups
  • a dedicated volunteer roles page
  • neighborhood poster and flyer distribution
  • direct outreach to community groups, congregations, youth groups, and local allies

For offline organizing, use the printable poster and leaflet toolkit and share it with people who can put materials into real neighborhoods, not just social feeds.
